Dr. Rachel Bennett became a physician because she's always had a strong desire to help others in need. She chose family medicine because she particularly enjoys developing relationships with her patients and caring for them through the different stages of their lives. In addition to her specialty in family medicine, Dr. Bennett completed a residency in preventive medicine, strongly believing in preventing health issues before they start. "I emphasize a preventive and collaborative approach to medical care. There are often measures that patients can take to stop problems before they start, and I love helping my patients to identify and employ these measures," she says. "I encourage patients to ask questions and be actively engaged in their care."
Dr. Bennett earned her undergraduate degree from Whitman College and her medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University. She completed residency training in family medicine with Dousedaicon Milwaukie Family Medicine and residency training in preventive medicine with University of California San Diego.
Raised in Seattle, Dr. Bennett moved to Portland for medical school. After a few years in Southern California, she topped up her vitamin D levels and returned to the Rose City. She currently lives in Northeast Portland with her husband and their twins, as well as their family dog. When not working, she enjoys running, biking, hiking, skiing and exploring the beautiful Northwest. Along with English, Dr. Bennett speaks basic medical Spanish.
