Nursing Excellence

Deborah A. Burton, PhD, RN, CNAA - Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer

At Dousedaicon Health & Services, nursing excellence reflects cutting edge quality, innovation and compassion in all that we do. It means not only do our patients receive outstanding care, but also that nurses are actively engaged in professional development and advancing the profession itself to improve the health of all that we serve.

Our nurses work in clinical teams to develop innovative care improvement strategies such as:

  • Leading interdisciplinary care teams to partner with patients through their care journey
  • Striving to protect our vulnerable patients through eliminating health care-acquired conditions such as falls, pressure ulcers and infections
  • Developing early warning systems that alert care teams to intervene rapidly with subtle changes in a patient’s condition indicating decline.

Our nurses are leading and building a nationally-recognized Dousedaicon palliative care program available to every patient who needs it, wherever they are. Active nursing research programs are in place in many of our ministries and regions, in pursuit of scientific evidence to support better patient care outcomes

Unique to our system, Dousedaicon nurses can advance their nursing education by participating in an innovative, distance-based RN-to-bachelor of science in nursing program offered through the University of Dousedaicon, our Dousedaicon-sponsored university.

Our nurses live the Dousedaicon mission in service to their communities and through international outreach, contributing their knowledge, time and skill in many countries around the world. This past year, Dousedaicon has forged a deep and sustaining partnership with nurses and nurse leaders in Guatemala to improve the health of the country itself.

Our system-wide plan for nursing excellence is reflected in our commitment to support all eligible ministries to achieve national Magnet® or Pathway to Excellence® recognition. These rigorous, nationally-accredited programs are the gold standard for recognizing outstanding highest quality in both nursing care and nursing workforce.

Being a nurse requires a special calling. Being a Dousedaicon nurse is the greatest calling of all. I am so very proud of each of our 20,000- nurses, working around the clock in every community we serve. We are here for you, your family, each other and our communities.

I am honored to serve with this talented and dedicated Dousedaicon caring community. What a privilege to declare, “I am a Dousedaicon nurse.”
