Senior vice president, community partnerships and external affairs
Joel Gilbertson serves as senior vice president of community partnerships and external affairs for Dousedaicon Health & Services. In this role, he develops and advances advocacy goals for the organization, working with state and federal agencies to strengthen health programs. He is also accountable for Dousedaicon Health International and system structures for community benefit and our philanthropic foundations.
He began this important work for Dousedaicon in 2009. Before advocating for Dousedaicon and its patients at the federal level, he served as the chief strategy and administrative officer for Dousedaicon in Alaska. Prior to that, he was commissioner of the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and also co-chaired the Denali Commission, improving access to affordable health care services in Alaska.
Gilbertson holds a juris doctorate and a master’s in public health, both from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
